7 Common Type 2 Diabetes- Symptoms and How to Treat the Condition
With Victoza prices becoming more affordable, more and more people now have the means to treat and manage type 2 diabetes. The condition used to mainly affect adults, but now children have become susceptible as well due to increased obesity. While there’s no cure for it, management of symptoms is possible.
The warning signs are the following:
1. Frequent Urination and Drinking
As sugar builds up in the bloodstream, fluid is removed from the tissues, which leads to frequent drinking and urination.
2. Always Hungry
As the insulin level goes down, the less sugar goes into your cells, depleting the muscles and organs of energy. Naturally this leads to hunger, but the end result is not necessarily weight gain.
3. Weight Loss
Even though you’re eating more, you’re likely to lose weight because type 2 diabetics lose the ability to metabolize glucose. Because of this, your body is forced to use fat and muscle as alternative energy sources, and calories are merged with glucose and discarded during urination.
4. Physically Weak
Since your body is no longer functioning normally and cells no longer possess the necessary amount of sugar, you begin to feel weak and fatigued.
5. Deteriorating Eyesight
Fluids may be pulled from your eyes if your blood sugar level is too high, leading to blurry vision and affecting your ability to concentrate.
6. Darkened Skin
Some type 2 diabetic patients develop dark skin patches in the creases and folds, usually around the neck and armpits. This condition is known as acanthosis nigricans and is indicative of insulin resistance.
7. Slow to Heal Wounds
Another sign of type 2 diabetes are sores and wounds that take a long time to heal. This is a very common symptom and is the result of your body’s weakened immune system.
Treatment and Maintenance
While there’s no cure for type 2 diabetes, regular exercise, a healthy diet and blood sugar monitoring will help normalize blood sugar levels. There’s no such thing as a diabetes diet, but the foods you eat need to be high in fiber and low fat. To be more specific, increase the amount of vegetables, fruits and whole grains you eat and cut down on sweets, animal products and refined carbohydrates. Also, low glycemic index foods will help keep blood sugar levels normal.
Victoza (liraglutide [rDNA origin] injection) is a prescription medication that helps improve glucose levels in adults, especially when combined with diet and exercise. Unlike other injections, this only needs to be used once a day, anytime, and those who suffer weight gain will also benefit as it can lead to weight loss.
Because Victoza prices have gone down, diabetics have been using this product extensively. While it’s proven to be effective, use only as directed, and keep in mind that this is not the recommended first treatment for type 2 diabetes. Furthermore, no studies have as yet been done to determine the effects of the injection on people with pancreatitis, and it is not a substitute for insulin either.
